A Rainfall Warning is now in effect for: Vaughan – Richmond Hill – Markham
Expect rainfall accompanied by intense downpours.
Hazards:
- Rainfall accumulation of 40 to 60 mm, with potential for higher amounts in localized areas.
- Torrential downpours could result in rainfall rates of 20 to 40 mm per hour.
Timing: From this morning through Thursday morning, with the heaviest rainfall expected today and tonight.
Discussion: Heavy rainfall linked to the remnants of Hurricane Beryl will move across southern Ontario today. These systems often bring rapid rainfall in intense downpours.
Rainfall totals will vary widely across the region, possibly exceeding 60 mm in some places. Showers will become scattered from west to east tonight through early Thursday.
For flooding updates, please contact your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office. Visit Ontario.ca/floods for the latest information.
Intense downpours may cause flash floods and ponding on roadways. Be cautious of localized flooding in low-lying areas.
If driving conditions worsen, reduce speed, maintain a safe following distance, and be prepared to stop.
