York Regional Police are alerting the public to a concerning tactic used by thieves who place hidden cameras around homes to observe residents’ daily routines.

Investigators say the devices are often concealed on properties, such as near trees or bushes, and are used to track when homeowners are away. This information allows suspects to plan and carry out break-ins more effectively.

Police have identified at least a couple of recent cases involving this method and are urging residents to stay vigilant. Homeowners are encouraged to regularly check their properties for suspicious items and report anything unusual to authorities.

Officials say being aware of this strategy can help prevent potential break-ins and improve overall community safety.
