York Regional Police responded early Tuesday, March 7, 2026 to a reported swatting incident at Pierre Elliott Trudeau High School near Bur Oak Avenue and Kennedy Road in Markham. Officers arrived shortly before 7:45 a.m. after a threatening phone call that appeared to originate from Los Angeles, police said

Police cleared the building and found no ongoing danger to students or staff. The York Region District School Board placed the school in lockdown while officers investigated and, as a precaution, moved students temporarily to Beckett Farm Public School at 78 Beckett Ave.; authorities said students would return to the high school soon.

York Regional Police confirmed this was the second time the school received a similar call this year, noting an earlier threat from Los Angeles on March 2. By around 11 a.m., officers were completing a secondary sweep and planned to remain on site during the ongoing investigation.
