RICHMOND HILL – April marks Earth Month, a time to appreciate our natural surroundings and work together to protect them. To encourage community involvement, the City of Richmond Hill is offering a variety of eco-themed, family-friendly programs:
April 16 to May 19 – Healthy Yards Plant & Garden Sale
Residents can pre-order native trees, shrubs, perennial wildflower kits, rain barrels, and composters at reduced prices. Visit the product guide to explore this year’s selection.
Details: The online store opens April 16 at 8:30 a.m., and items may sell out quickly. Orders will be available for pickup on May 30.
April 17 – Fantastic Fish Workshop & Guided Walk (Free)
Discover the underwater world of Lake Wilcox during a guided, family-friendly walk. Learn about local fish species found in the lake and across southern Ontario. This is an observational experience—no fishing involved. Registration required.
Details: Oak Ridges Community Centre, 6:15–7:45 p.m. (includes walk to Lake Wilcox)
April 18 – Our Power, Our Planet: An Earth Day Experience (Free)
Celebrate Earth Day with hands-on activities for all ages in partnership with Richmond Hill Public Library. Enjoy workshops on rain gardens and clothing repair, e-bike and e-scooter demonstrations, arts and crafts for kids, live music, eco exhibits, games, and prizes. Register online for workshops.

April 18, 19 & 26 – Community Tree Planting Events (Free)
Help grow Richmond Hill’s urban forest by volunteering to plant trees. Tools will be provided, though participants may bring their own. Registration required.
